Metal Gutter Guards Installation – FAQs

  1. What is the product made of?

GumLeaf Gutter Guard has three options:

  • Australian Made BlueScope Colorbond steel.
  • Aluminium
  • Stainless Steel for Tiled Roofs
  1. What’s the best – plastic, aluminium or steel?

Most gutter guards work to a degree. Some very limited. Apart from functionality, one of the most important things you should think about is the life of the guard. Plastics are not made for Australian conditions as they expand and contract. This causes them to crack, bubble and most are highly flammable. We remove most plastic guards within 5-6 years. Steel is the best but needs to be a quality Australian Made steel in order to be better resist deterioration and rusting.

  1. How long will it last?

GumLeaf offers a 25 year performance warranty on all of its BlueScope Colorbond Steel as well as Stainless Steel for Roofs. GumLeaf’s Aluminium has a 10 year warranty.

  1. What about maintenance?

All gutter guards must be flushed every 3-5 years. This is a service we provide since we don’t want you getting on the roof. The only guard where this may be done less often is GumLeaf’s Stainless Steel for Roofs because with a hole size of just 0.3 mm very little gets inside your gutter other than water.

  1. Do you clean the gutters first?

Yes, we certainly do. All gutters, valleys and down pipes are cleaned before GumLeaf gutter protection is installed.

  1. Is the product expensive?

GumLeaf’s pricing is very competitive. We manufacture our product in bulk and pass the discount onto the customer.

  1. What colours are available?

All Colorbond colours are available, but Woodland Grey is the most popular as it won’t discolour with leaves and silt passing over the gutter guard.

  1. Does GumLeaf Gutter Guard go over the first tile and look unattractive?

No, GumLeaf gutter protection has a step system whereby it is attached to the top of the gutter lip, goes to the first tile, takes a step down and rests on the fascia board under the first tile.

  1. Can I do it myself?

Yes, it’s available for DIY. GumLeaf gutter guard comes with full instructions and all materials if needed. We also have preferred installers in most areas.

  1. Are any discounts available?

Yes. Please talk to your installer for available discounts at that time.

  1. Why is Gutter Guard Installation Important?

Outfitting your roof with a high-quality gutter guard preserves and even improves the value of your home. Gutter guards eliminate the need for clambering around your roof and frees your gutters from unwanted matter. Leaves are an open invitation for leaks, birds, pests and insects, which may cause extra damage to your roof. Good gutter protection improves water flow, so you don’t have to worry about your gutter clogging up with leaves and other debris after harsh weather. So, what professional gutter cleaners can do, a superior gutter guard can do just as well. In other words, good gutter defence saves you time, money and effort in keeping your gutters clear.
